Precision field microscope with XY stage

UK portable microscope manufacturer, ioLight Limited, today introduces an XY stage for its field microscope.

ioLight’s patented 1 micron resolution pocket microscope is used by hundreds of the world’s leading researchers in Antarctica, Kazakhstan, Alaska and other remote ecosystems. National Geographic® even used the microscope to monitor climate change above 5,000 meters on Mount Everest. The company has now added a compact XY stage to its product so that scientists can methodically scan the sample on the top of a mountain just like they do in the lab.

ioLight CTO Richard Williams says “Customers have asked us for a moveable stage for a while, but microscope stages are big, heavy and not easily portable. Our new XY stage gives scientists the precision they have in the lab and it still fits with the microscope into a jacket pocket.” He continues: “Our customers monitor climate change and animal health away from the lab. Now they can also take a precision of an XY stage”.

The xy stage makes Worm Egg Counts simple

ioLight customer New Forest Equine Vets checked out the new microscope for diagnosing Gastro Intestinal Nematodes by counting worm eggs. Dr Beth Robinson, owner of New Forest Equine Vets says “We love the new ioLight XY microscope since it makes performing worm egg counts very simple.” Explaining how ioLight has helped to grow their clinical practice, she continues: “Offering routine in-house WEC may not make a large profit, but it provides opportunities for us to interact with our clients several times a year and offers them an enhanced, bespoke service – this is a key reason for New Forest Equine Vets rapid growth”.
