Inverted microscope sees the world from below

We are pleased to announce an inverted version of our microscope, expanding our range of compact, high-resolution instruments. Our initial products have the optical system viewing the solid or liquid sample from above. These microscopes are robust, highly portable and powerful enough to view individual cells. They have been used in Alaska, Antarctica, The Amazon and even on Mount Everest.
However, often scientists need to view samples through the base of a petri dish as illustrated in the photo. The ioLight inverted microscope is the perfect tool for this job with its compact size and simplicity of use. The camera views the sample from below and displays it on a mobile phone, laptop or tablet over a wireless link so the instrument can be left on the experiment inside laminar flow hoods or suitable incubators. Researchers watch cultures grow in real time without disturbing experimental conditions. We use JPG, BMP or PNG formats to store images so they are simple to share and process.
